Easter Weekend

Easter was a mix of eggs, candy, new experiences in hunting and adorable Easter suits. The Friday before Easter Sunday, some friends of mine in our ward had a hunt out at Cross Oak Ranch. This was the first time Jonathan had ever hunted eggs so I was excited to see how well he picked it up. No pun intended! Hahahaha! I'll be here all week, folks!
Anyway...He did pretty well and I was thankful for this trial round because that next day we were doing an even bigger hunt.

Saturday we went to the annual Martino Easter Egg Hunt out on the ranch. Jonathan had such a blast finding the eggs. He kept saying, "Ball! Ball!" and got the whole throwing-the-egg-in-the-basket thing down! Little did he know the eggs were filled with candy, but as soon as he got his sticky little fingers on some M&Ms it was all downhill from there! Then we had a weenie roast around the fire and ate s'mores for dessert. Afterward, all the kids stayed and played on Jim & Jennie's waterfall which Jonathan loved. There's something about boys and throwing rocks into water - it's just ingrained in them!

While I was outside playing in the water with Jonathan, Joseph was workin' up a sweat on his dad's new ping pong table. We're talkin' crazy Chinese ping pong moves, people! It was hysterical! In an attempt to imitate my hilarious husband, I backed into the front of mom's Prius and severely bruised my calf. See below. By the way, the picture doesn't do it justice. It's much darker and more ominous looking in person. Plus, it has a HUGE knot underneath that I keep having to massage so a calcium deposit doesn't form. Take pity on me - that's all I want...
Easter Sunday was fun too. The Easter Bunny brought Jonathan candy and bubbles in his Easter basket. Whenever we blow bubbles, he just sits there pointing at them and saying... you guessed it! "Ball! Ball!" I think we might have an obsession on our hands!

We went to Arlington to see Vivi and Daddy Mac who gave Jonathan another Easter basket. Let's just say the candy is gone and my efforts at losing any weight this past couple of weeks have been in vain. I'm weak when it comes to candy. It's a problem I'm working through - keep me in your thoughts...
Enjoy the pics below:

Check out my professional walker! Jonathan, not Joseph...
The beginnings of the word "ball" - I think his face is so cute!
Thata girl McKenna! Way to help a cousin out!

Candy breakdown - Lawsie mercy look at that face!

New city, new job, new life!

My brother moved to Golden, CO at the beginning of March with his girlfriend, Terell and a couple friend of theirs. He's always lived in Texas and loves it but eventually wanted to move there just because... Because he could, because he had saved enough money, because he loves the mountains, snow and snowboarding and everything that has to do with mountains, snow and snowboarding, because he wasn't tied down to anybody but himself and Terell who saved enough money to move with him... Just because...
I have to say I'm a bit jealous he was able to do such a thing. I always thought once I graduated, I would move somewhere else and begin a career in the hospitality field. Never in my wildest dreams did I plan on moving an hour from my hometown to go to school and meet the love of my life who was born and raised here. He had no plans of leaving and so my plans changed. Don't get me wrong - now I wouldn't have it any other way, but I'm proud of my brother and the gumption he had to "get it done."
Corey's been looking for a job over the past couple of weeks and called yesterday with good news. He got a great job with good pay and starts in two weeks! Congratulations Corey Mac! We're so proud of you here in good ol' Texas and can't wait to come visit you in the summer!
Hey Corey? Are you there? Don't forget us little people back here. Because we haven't forgotten you...
And Corey? I was always your favorite sister, right? Ok, just checking... Call me!

This is for you Corey Mac!

Baby J just started walking on a consistent basis and my brother lives in Colorado so he doesn't get to see all the action. Please excuse the annoying commentator! I don't know WHO that woman is but she shouldn't quit her day job!

Happy Anniversary!

Today is our 2 year anniversary! It feels like just yesterday we were partying like rockstars at our reception! Man time flies! I am so lucky to be married to my best friend. I was telling Joseph just the other day when he cracked me up for the umpteenth time, "Nobody else gets to see this side of you!" He said, "That's why I married you...You're the only one I want to share it with..." SWOON! He's so sweet and amazing! Happy Anniversary JoJo! I love you!

Dating days:
Going to meet my parents for the first time to celebrate my birthday - August 2006
Dating days: Bowling with friends. I split my pants that night "droppin' it like it's hot!" Hence the jacket stylishly tied around my waist!
Wedding day - Greatest day of my life!
Partying like rockstars!

I've changed my mind...

What I thought was absolutely adorable the other day when Jonathan took off his diaper, is not quite the funny situation when there's excrement involved. Shannon, you totally called it! I put Jonathan down for his afternoon nap and started working on some burp cloths for a friend. Time flew by and before I knew it, he was awake. He was just talking away in his room and I needed to get these burp rags finished so I just left him in there. He's in his crib, nothing dangerous is around him, what's the worst that can happen??? Once Joseph got home a few minutes later he went in to get him and was almost knocked down by the stench! He said, "Jonathan's flung poop from his diaper like a monkey!" Sure enough, there was poop in his hair, on his hands and feet (who knows if he sucked on his hands at any moment during this escapade!), smeared on the wall, all over his bed, on the crib rails and little rabbit pellets flung onto the carpet! Grossest thing of my life! And I was just about to leave to get my nails done for the first time in months! Needless to say, baby and bedroom got a full on cleaning with bubbles, disinfectant (for the room, not the baby!)... THE WORKS... Any other fun little habits ya'll can prepare me for???
